random thought

There is a tv channel that is all about computers, video games, and electronics in that department. We were talking in class about how movies are more publisized than anything on the net, like web art. But i was thinking that this channel could be the start of computer/web publicity. It had all sorts of info on up and coming companies and new and improved computers and video games, like short cuts. And all though i still cant understand a word they were talking about, i could see how this could influence people either going out side to the movies or just looking them up online, downloading them, and then watching them in the comfort of their own home. Just a thought, oh and its also in the middle of all the espn channels, weird or planned out to make more men buy these products, hmmm. . . subliminal messages. . .hmmmm. . .

Dancing Generater

to jump releve
third position echappes desperatly
demi-plie point rythmic
to slide flex undressing
first position adagio standing
port de bra croise playing
to glide left to reach
front right to bend
back efface to rotate
side en face to straighten
long tendue slow
smooth ecarte devant fast
battement tendu jete a la seconde stop
croise derriere wildly go

using these words i would use a generater that would create a series of short movement phrases. this would end up creating a dance. It would be interesting to see what would come out of this. then using different people doing the same dance, and then using the same person doing different dances, i could compare and contrast to see if there was a certain patern the computer program was choosing all on its own.

Idea for project=referbished

So I have been thinking on the project, and instead of taking the words from an already made dance, i would take normal vebs like "to slide", and "to jump", add them in with ballet technical terms, and then jumble them up and make the dance. I could do this a few times, and see what sort of varitations i came up with. I could video tape them for you and that could be my project, plus a detailed paper on how the process went and my findings.

was also wondering about last semesters incomplete, if i had done enough to change that, or if there was anything else i could do. thanks

The reading we had to do

Ok, I read it twice and I still could barly understand it. I get that Oulipo was trying to create "constraints" on his poetry, not "artificial poetry" like others of the 17th century. He wanted to create the same cultural and meaningful poetry but without haveing it sound like it came straight from his own lips. More of a "foreign" meaning "struggling against fromal rules."
I liked the idea of creating an entire book of poems not using the letter "e". How cool, and difficult that must have been. I would like to try it with other letters as well, using dance vocabulary and seeing what kind of movement i could generate.
But in the end I am still at a loss for words because as much as i understood, i had to take a dictionary to understand the rest, and yet it still isn't quite seeping into my brain. But i do get the gist of it.

Idea for my project

Sorry its taken so long, i still dont have a computer at home, so i have to do it here at school.
Ok I was thinking that I could make a short and simple dance movement. Put the phrase into words, and then use those words to generate another phrase and create a new dance. I think seeing what would come up could be interesting. I could then compare the two.

random post

When i was checking my email today, it occured to me that i no longer get the news or gossip from anywhere else than the internet. i used to but a paper every week if not only for the classified sections but for the news. now all i know of the world, is what headlines i see on the internet, i even get the classifieds here, its weird how i never thought myself as the "internet" type of person, but like my mom says, i guess im hooked.
